Who is Your First?

"Love God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength."
It has been raining hard today because of the typhoon. Although the wind was blowing hard at me, with a broken umbrella and half drenched from the rain, I managed to arrive to church safely. I was late as usual for the Sabbath school class but early enough for the hour of worship service.

The teacher told me, "Five minutes left more, Rofe, could you give your comment on our lesson?". The lesson was on Daniel and his friends. I paused before giving my reply.  "I have been reading the book of Daniel," I said. "And it occurred to me that Daniel's faithfulness was more than just the training he has as a child. It was a decision he made to be faithful to God". It was a comment half realized until this moment.
Just a few minutes ago I re-read my previous posts and my last post caught me. My heart has been troubled by news back home, still on my youngest sister. Her blatant display of sin and adamantly disregarding our rebukes had made my heart sorrowful. I cried my heart to God. I want her to acknowledge her sins and repent. It was so heavy upon me, after all she is still my sister.

The Rock

E-mail Print PDF

A man was sleeping at night in his cabin when suddenly his room filled with light and the Savior appeared. The Lord told the man he had work for him to do, and showed him a large rock in front of his cabin. The Lord explained that the man was to push against the rock with all his might.

This the man did, day after day. For many years he toiled from sun up to sun down, his shoulders set squarely against the cold, massive surface of the unmoving rock, pushing with all his might.

Each night the man returned to his cabin sore, and worn out, feeling that his whole day had been spent in vain. Seeing that the man was showing signs of discouragement, the Evil Impulse decided to enter the picture by placing thoughts into the man's weary mind: "You have been pushing against that rock for a long time, and it hasn't budged. Why kill yourself over this? You are never going to move it." Thus giving the man the impression that the task was impossible and that he was a failure, these thoughts discouraged and disheartened the "Why kill myself over this?" he thought. "I'll just put in my time, giving just the minimum effort and that will be good enough."

To our dear AMICUS Friends,

Christian Greetings!

Last Dec. 4-12, 2009, the Adventist University of the Philippines (AUP) had experienced a foretaste of Generation of Youth for Christ (GYC) (check out www.gycweb.org) through Philippine Youth for Christ. Speakers coming from the United States mainly, Dr. Samuel Koranteng- Pipim, Pastor Randy Skeete and Pastor Karl Tsatalbasidis delivered timely messages that revived AUP Students in the whole campus. And now through the working of the Holy Spirit, the whole Philippines is about to experience a GYC Philippines that serves as a movement to encourage young people to take part in hastening the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, on Dec. 17-22, 2010 at the AUP campus.

It is our earnest desire for our AMICUS friends to be part of it also.

Please do reply in this email that we may work together for God's cause.

Thank you so much and may our good Lord bless AMICUS!

P.S.
more details to be followed
